Comments from Xbox 720 Release!

I can already see their E3 presentation now.
360 x 6 = XBOX 2160, 2+1+6+0 = 9 (German techno beats began thumping with a robot voice repeating ‘nein, nein, nein, nein, nein.’) Spotlight hits a sweaty shirtless David Hasslehoff and Bill Gates doing the robot to the rhythm of the techno beat, They continue the robot as avant-garde images of exotic animals floating in space wearing master chief helmets are projected on the screen; all the while the beat continues thumping, ‘nein, nein, nein, nein, nein.’ Bold lettering fills the screen with the phrase, “All your XBOT are belong to us”. The vivid images and mesmerizing trance become too much for the crowd to handle. David Hasslehoff and Bill Gates begin rolling in a pile of money while laughing uncontrollably as the audiences eyes began to melt inside their skulls like the finale of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Actually this was just Greg Millers response when I asked him why he texted me at three in the morning saying he had an incredibly amazing dream of the new Xbox presentation at E3.

Razer Gaming Tablet for 2012

This was a sneak peak at the CES convention ill kepe my ear to the ground.

The inner gamer!

I guess I really should have started with a bit about my gaming life.

Ill cut out straight to when i started playing games with a passion.  I mean why bother talking about my NES and SNES and leisure suite larry on a computer akin to a 486 (in my mind).

Starcraft……my obsession begins! When my brother came from townsville with this game I got half-mast to sail just looking at the box and reading the manual. After just a couple of weeks with the game my brother left and the game with him.  Once i had procured my own copy and played the campaign through several times (usually me and my friend would play swapping turns every new level) I started organising LANs with friends so we could vs eachother or vs the computer.

Sadly, only having dailup i never really go into the online scene on SC and SC eventaully fell away and was taken over by games like Half-life (mind-blown) which eventaully gave birth to Counter-Strike.

One day while in yr 11 FTV class i was talking to a friend about CS and he told me about the online competitive scene.  There were clans and they would organise “scrims” together. Each team incorporating different strategies to win rounds for the ultimate goal of simple winning.

I stopped playing all other games (minor foray into the world of Morrowind but we can go there later) and just played CS against bots (my internet was so bad i couldnt connect to servers). For months i did this until i finally moved to brisbane for university and obtained CABLE internet.

Thus ended all hopes of doing well in my chemistry degree and began my daily 5 hour routine (thats a minimum my friends) into the online gaming.  As i played more i realised i was for the first time in my life (sadly) able to back myself, I was actually better at something then alot of other people.

After several months of late nights my FTV mate (jamo) got me into scrims with people of high skill (melbourne/sydney LAN scene) and i was obsessed. I joined clan after clan, getting better and better until i finally had my first LAN experience.

Needless it say it was rough, First round in

StarCraft2: be a better gamer with Day9

Day9 is a SC2 commentator and a big one at that.  He was previously a WCG 2005 or something SC winner and has since turned his efforts to full time commentoryof SC2 and his pet project the Day9 Daily.

The daily is all about being a better gamer.  Day9 achieves this with in depth (sometimes a little toooo) analysis of professional games.  He focuses on recent tournament games and usually focuses on up to date stratagies.  However, he also has noob related dailies where teaches basic ways to improve be it how-to on basic strats (like 4 warp gating) or techniques on how to improve (Set goals for specific opponents Zerg, Protoss or Terran).

If your after watching a games straight up DO NOT go here.  Though of late he has done less face time and more game time this is an analysis daily not Husky Starcraft game only commentary.

Enjoy :)

Preface

jbsv has been a long standing gaming handle of mine so i guess i am going to make this my gaming related section.

I will talk about competitive gaming as a competitor and spectator.  My only real goal is to promote competitive gaming.  Be it through talking about hardware or talking about specific gaming dynamics.

I will definitely be trying to plug tournaments and link people to gaming websites or find useful video blogs for specific games.

Lets see where it takes us :D

3Wout.

Why is this good for me?

How can i use this medium to ADD to my life positively?  Can it be used for promotion, yes it can but what to promote? i am unaware of what it is i should be promoting about my self.

Ill be back.
